"The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any."
-Alice Walker

Grassroots Change

In order to make tangible and sustainable change in Miami, P.S. 305 focuses on developing leaders from within. This means building a network of hundreds of informed and active stakeholders across the city to advocate for their kids and communities.

Community Organizing

Through classic, asset-based community organizing, we aim to identify and develop a diverse group of leaders from across the city in pursuit of an excellent public education system. Our organizing team engages stakeholders in a leadership development pipeline that trains and coaches students, teachers, parents, and community members to amplify their voice in the education conversation.

Our Model

Our model centers on traditional community organizing, where our leaders focus on creating change in their schools, communities, and the school system as a whole. We build teams of families, developing their skills along the way. Leaders work on local, city, district, and statewide issues, including supporting proven policies and people that improve outcomes for kids. Our model is based on research from the ABCD Institute, as well as the approaches of Marshall Ganz and PICO.
