Advocacy & Organizing Fundamentals Training
This comprehensive training covers the fundamental skills of advocacy and organizing, helping leaders increase their impact. Learn about P.S. 305's model for organizing and advocacy, which is rooted in classic community organizing and based in research from the ABCD Institute, as well as the approaches of Marshall Ganz and PICO. By attending, you'll learn best practices for community engagement, planning and executing successful campaigns, how to understand power, and different theories of action within the field of advocacy.

P.S. 305 Parent Power Bootcamp
P.S. 305 is looking for 20 parents/guardians to participate in an 8 week bootcamp to maximize their leadership skills and impact, helping to improve Miami's schools and communities.
Participants will learn about topics like: -What are the indicators of a high quality school? -What are the key issues facing Miami's schools? -How can I be a leader in my school community?
Participants will be required to attend all meetings, which will be on Tuesdays from 6-8 PM at CIC Miami (1951 NW 7th Ave Suite 600, Miami, FL 33136)
The Fall 2017 dates are: Oct. 10 Oct. 17 Oct. 24 Nov. 7 Nov. 14 Nov. 28 Dec. 5 Dec. 12 Parents or guardians of children in PreK-12 schools in Miami-Dade County are eligible to apply.

P.S. 305 Teacher Policy Fellowship
Join educators from across Miami-Dade to learn about the people and policies that govern schools, as well as how to impact them. This fellowship builds a bridge between the statehouse and the schoolhouse, elevating teacher voice in the way decisions are made. Through this fellowship, teachers will get a chance to identify the role they want to play in making systemic change in the Miami community. Sessions will focus on: -The meaning of advocacy -Community organizing skills -Issue research -Approaches to leading systems -Local political context The fellowship involves 10 sessions which will be held on Thursdays nights from 5-7 PM at CIC Miami ((1951 NW 7th Ave Suite 600, Miami, FL 33136).
